Coaching Staff

Maddie is a graduate of the University of California where she played Division-I field hockey. Maddie began playing field hockey in middle school. While in college, Maddie had the opportunity to play in South Africa competing against their top club teams and their national team. Maddie played 3 years at forward and during her senior year was switched to play right back.

Prior to college, Maddie played for a club team called RUSH in San Diego California. Maddie has participated in coaching young players throughout her career playing field hockey. She participated in coaching through the Futures program. After playing all 4 years at Cal, Maddie continued her passion for field hockey and played in San Francisco on Tuesday nights with Fog City field hockey. In 2020, she moved to Texas and joined Lone Star.

Mare grew up in Hartland, Wisconsin and has been playing since she was 7 years old. She played for Milwaukee Field Hockey’s travel team from 2013-2018. Mare also participated in Futures and was being selected to the Midwest region team playing under Will Byrne in 2017. She has also attended RCC, JPLO, Disney, Festival and NIT over the years. Mare was also a 4-year Varsity letter recipient and starter at her local high school. She then graduated high school a semester early and went down under to Australia, lived there for 8 weeks while playing under the St. Kilda field hockey program in Melbourne. After her time in Australia, she then went on to play collegiate D2 field hockey at Lindenwood University, where she made a huge impact on the team.

Justin has been playing in Goal for over 35 years, and was born in England where he started playing in middle school, while also playing in a local men’s league. He then played on multiple teams for Teddington Hockey club and trained with their National team  (Established in 1871 it’s the oldest hockey club in the world). He then played University Hockey for Portsmouth University (UK), and then league hockey at Rickmansworth Hockey Club, participating in multiple international tournaments. In 2007 he moved to the US and now coaches for Lone Star and plays for them at a national level.

• Played for her national team, England at junior level for u16, u18 and u21
• Played for Premier league team Clifton and for Millfield school
• Recruited by Wake Forest to play in the States
• Played 5 seasons for Wake Forest and captained 2 seasons. Made it to Final Four in 2018.

Patrick grew up playing in England, including for King’s College, University of London, and the City of Bath. Played for USA National Team from 2004 – 2006.

Wander grew up playing at Bloemendaal, then played for the Bulldogs in California and the U.S. Junior/Men’s National Team. He played for Durham University in England.

Diana and her husband raised their family for 20 years in New Jersey where her daughters played field hockey.  After relocating to Dallas, Diana found a role growing field hockey in the Lone Star State. She is a proud mom of two daughters, Univ. of Pennsylvania Field Hockey Class of ’18 and ’23 and a son, a UT Austin alum and video producer in Dallas. Go Quakers…Go Longhorns!

Adeel Hussain was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. He started playing hockey in school and played for the Sindh Provincial Team and for the Karachi Electric Supply club team for U16, U19 and U21. In 2005 he achieved a national record scoring 13 goals in one match against Larkana city in Pakistan. He made his debut in 2006 in Pakistan National Junior Team and in 2008 he played in the Junior Hockey Asia Cup in Hyderabad, India. He was honored as a Man of the Match in a test series between Pakistan Junior team and Kenya Senior team in 2007.  

While playing for the Junior National Team he also served as a captain for Habib Bank of Pakistan hockey team playing junior and senior interprovincial championships during years 2006-2011. In summer of 2011 Adeel went to Kenya to coach Kenya National team and played for their National league representing Sikh Union Nairobi Club, Kenya.

In 2012, Adeel moved to the U.S. and joined University of Michigan Field Hockey Club. He has played in the Cleveland Cup, Chicago Cup, Houston Cup and Sacramento cup between 2013 and 2015. In 2015 he made Dallas his home.  Currently, he coaches for Lone Star Field Hockey club and is also an active hockey player for the adult Dallas Field Hockey Club.

Ashley is a graduate of Miami University where she played Division-I field hockey. She is a versatile player having played defense, forward and midfield throughout her career. During her time with the Redhawks she won 3 MAC Championships and had 2 sweet sixteen berths to the National Tournament. While in college she and her team had the opportunity to play in Spain competing against some of their top club teams. 

Prior to college, Ashley played for X-Calibur Field Hockey Club in Pennsylvania, as well as Mystx Field Hockey Club starting in 3rd grade. She attended and won many National Tournaments with her club teams. She loves being able to coach and give back to the sport that gave her so much.

Ashley is a University of Michigan graduate and 4 time Big Ten Champion. She has been coaching Futures and club hockey since 2009.

Ellen is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and played there for five seasons, including her freshman year which she redshirted. In her time at UNC, she won four ACC Championships and two National Championships. In addition to those, her team competed in every ACC championship game and every Final Four tournament. She played defense at Carolina, usually at left back.

Prior to UNC, she played field hockey at Casady High School in Oklahoma City and won an SPC championship. She has coached at UNC Camps for multiple years, as well as Casady camps and the Carolina All Stars Field Hockey Club.

Patricia was born and raised in Argentina. She started playing field hockey at 9 years old for the A team at the San Martin Club in Tucuman, Argentina. Patricia played for her state team, Tucuman, for 13 years straight on the U12, U15, Junior, and First teams. She also played for the North Regional Travel Team comprised of 6 states competing at the national level.

Patricia also trained at CeNARD in Buenos Aires with the Argentinian Junior Team and at 17 years old, she won an international scholarship to study in Spain and played for UD Taburiente in Las Palmas. She currently plays for the adult Dallas Field Hockey Club.

Patricia has coached field hockey for over 25 years, coaching U5 and U10 teams in Argentina and now coaches the U10s & U12s for Lone Star Field Hockey Club in Dallas.

Shelley started playing at age 10, and played through middle school. She played 4 years Varsity in high school & 4 years on Milwaukee Field Hockey Club’s elite travel team.

Andrew has been playing hockey for over 20 years. Prior to moving to Dallas he was playing competitively for the Westside Wolves Hockey Club in Perth, Australia. He first started playing hockey when he was 8-years old and played for Wolves for his entire junior and senior career.  Andrew has been playing and coaching with Lone Star since 2019.

I grew up in Kashmir, India and started playing field hockey at the age of seven. Hockey ran in our family. My father was the President of the Kashmir Hockey Federation and he was my first coach and the person in my life who made me fall in love with this wonder sport. I started off at the school level, and went on to playing Division-I (inter-district), several Sub Junior State Championship (under 14 inter-district), then on to 5 back to back under-19 Nationals out of which my team won 3 of them.

After moving to US in 2008, I started playing with Seattle Jets FHC. I played with SJFHC for about 10 years before moving to Dallas. Here I joined Lone Star Club as a Coach and further joined as a Varsity Coach with Parish Episcopal High School. I love to be part of hockey community in both capacities as a player and as a coach, I learn and contribute in both roles. It’s good to be part of the process and push for the growth of hockey in the country.

My motto is “Teamwork makes the dream work” and hockey is the way I practice it in my life. It is a team sport, there is no individual contributors. One team member succeeds when the entire team succeeds. In my opinion success can’t be measured with the final scores on the board. It really is bigger than that, as for me it’s how best we take our reflection from the field into our communities. I hope to help my students realize that and help them enjoy the game of hockey as they learn it and get better at it.
